Ο Νίκος Δασκαλοθανάσης είναι Καθηγητής Ιστορίας της Μοντέρνας και Σύγχρονης Τέχνης στο Τμήμα Θεωρίας και Ιστορίας της Τέχνης της Ανωτάτης Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών. Έχει δημοσιεύσει, μεταξύ άλλων, μια μονογραφία για τον Giorgio de Chirico (Η ζωγραφική του Giorgio de Chirico: η άρθρωση του μεταφυσικού χώρου, Αθήνα, εκδόσεις Opera/Critica, 2001), ένα βιβλίο για τον ιστορικό ρόλο του καλλιτέχνη (Ο καλλιτέχνης ως ιστορικό υποκείμενο: από τον 19ο στον 21ο αιώνα, Αθήνα, εκδόσεις Άγρα, 2004), μια μελέτη για την πρώιμη συγκρότηση της ιστορίας της τέχνης στην Ευρώπη (Ιστορία της τέχνης: η γέννηση μιας νέας επιστήμης: από τον 19ο στον 21ο αιώνα, Αθήνα, εκδόσεις Άγρα, 2013) και μια συλλογή κειμένων του (Restitutions. 14 κείμενα ιστορίας της τέχνης, Αθήνα, εκδόσεις futura, 2015). Έχει την ευθύνη της περιοδικής έκδοσης Ιστορία της τέχνης (εκδόσεις futura).
 
 
Nikos Daskalothanasis is a professor of modern and contemporary art history at the Department of Art Theory and History of the Athens School of Fine Arts. He has published, among others, a monograph on Giorgio de Chirico (The painting of Giorgio de Chirico: the articulation of visual space in Arte Metafisica, Athens, Opera/Critica, 2001), a book on the historical role of the artist (The artist as a historical subject: From the 19th to the 21st century, Athens, Agra Publications, 2004) and a study on the early formation of art history in Europe (Art history, the birth of a new discipline: from the 19th to the 20th century, Athens, Agra Publications, 2013). In 2015 he has published a collection of his unpublished writings (Restitutions. 14 texts on art history, Athens, futura publications). He is the editor of the book From minimal to conceptual art: a critical anthology, Athens, Athens School of Fine Arts, 2006. He translated and edited the Greek edition of the collected essays of Clement Greenberg, Art and culture, Athens, Nefeli Publications (the library of art), 2007. He translated and edited Le Lai d'Aristote or Aristotle and Phyllis (Athens, Agra, 2018). He is also the editor of the Festschrift in Honor of Professor Niki Loizidi (Athens, futura, 2019). In 2021 his book Art History 1945-1975: From Modern to Contemporary Art Painting - Sculpture - Architecture was published (Athens, futura Publications). He is the editor of the Greek peer reviewed academic journal Istoria tis Technis (Art History) (Athens, futura Publications, 2013-) https://istoriatechnisinfo.wordpress.com/. His research interests include art historiography as well as art theory and art history from the mid-19th century to the present day.
